Lloyd Irvin Spy Cam: Look over Lloyd Irvin's Shoulder In This Blog

6:30PM Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu White Belt Basics & Muay Thai Combat Gold Class in Camp Springs Maryland.

The SPYCAM killed two birds with one stone!

When it hit 6:30PM I spied on the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) White Belt Basics Class and the Muay Thai Combat Gold Class.

BJJ WHITE BELT BASICS
I really enjoyed watching the 6:30PM BJJ basics class. Lloyd Irvin black belt Mike Fowler starts the class up with some awesome warm up drills…. Backwards breakfall, Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3. The good thing about knowing this system is that you can apply it on the street for self-defense, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ).

If you look at the position… If you were pushed out on the street and fell, you would know to tuck your chin (so you wouldn’t hit the back of your head on the fall), and ‘breakfall’ (distribute all your weight on impact so its not too hard of a fall).
When you’re on the ground you are in a defensive position ready to strike. You have your hands protecting your face and your feet are in position to strike your opponents knees and face.
In the Phase 2 position you’re in proper base and your hand pointing to your opponent is protect your head from your opponents strikes.
In your Phase 3 position (the getting up phase), Mike Fowler shows the proper way to get up… ALWAYS looking at your opponents movement.

Isn’t that an awesome warm up drill? It may one day save your life…

At the Professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) level if you get lazy with the Phase 1-2-3 position it can cost you your match.

Be sure to listen to the very detailed pointers when Mike Fowler teaches the guard pass. Very basic but high level stuff…

MUAY THAI COMBAT GOLD
The Muay Thai Combat Gold Class in the Combat Athlete Room was awesome! Everyone in that class came to put in some WORK!

The SpyCam caught footage of one of my favorite combinations that Kru Jose Villarisco showed me a while back.

Jab (or double jab), dart off your back foot to close the distance in a slip position, immediately follow up with a left hook to the body, left hook to the head, and finish with a round leg kick!

Beautiful! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Gotta love the art of Muay Thai

Man I tell everyone that is interested in striking to come by Team Lloyd Irvin in Camp Springs to check out Kru Jose Villarisco. He knows his stuff! He’s been doing martial arts since a kid and puts it all together… Thats why his striking is so crisp and smooth! Not only is he the Floyd Mayweather of Muay Thai, but he is an awesome instructor. He breaks down the science of striking so you can understand the fundamentals of the kicks, punches, knees, and elbows.

STOP TALKING FRANK!! I WANNA SEE THE VIDEO
Enjoy the video…
